Yielding to the Wisdom Within

Its the middle of Winter here in Vermont; a natural time of stillness, a time for sinking back into our deeper streams of consciousness, and yielding to the wisdom therein. I am practicing the Chinese medicine principle of “wu wei” which is sometimes interpreted as non-doing, but also as allowing action to come from the authentic need of the moment. Implicit in the wu wei is trust in the need of the moment, in the intelligence of nature, in the flow of the Tao. The reward? The support of the unified field.

So often we put our doing on our lives, filling our days with work, meetings, engagements, media, and all the usual activities of daily living. Recently, on a damp, overcast late afternoon, my desire was to curl up with a book and nap by the fire. I also wanted to ski in the woods; the snow was fresh and soft and I like being sporty and outdoorsy. Headed toward the mudroom for my outdoor gear, suddenly my feet paused. Clearly, “Its time to rest” rang through my bones, followed by a warm feeling like melting caramel flowing down my body. Honoring the wisdom arising from my own beloved body, I nestled in to rest by the woodstove, pleased that my athlete ego could surrender so gracefully.

And so I am thinking about the action in non-action; all that might be available in the pauses, in the non-doing. If we give ourselves permission to stop doing, what subtle processes of integration, release, and repair may be accessing and directing our energy. When seeds and dormant roots are covered with snow, they are still communicating with the world around them. They sense the soil temperature, the hours of sunlight, and when the time is right for the action, they will grow. With right timing, in accordance with the intelligence of life.

This also happens in a Zero Balancing session as a client sinks into the experience of their inner landscape and drops into non-ordinary states of consciousness. Time and space seem to take on a new dimension. The client often feels so very still but also that so much is being accessed. There is nothing for them to do but witness themselves and be amazed at how their own body begins to release what it does not need to hold.

The subconscious body-held tension from the big and small traumas and dramas of life can become filters through which we perceive and behave. For example, lack of self-confidence from an unstable early life can color all decisions and interactions well into adulthood if it limits what one believes they are capable of. These old patterns in body and mind are like computer programs always running in the background even though we don’t see them on the screen of our conscious awareness.

A ZB sessions can bring these ‘programs’ to awareness for a person to release and re-integrate. It can also close these ‘dialogue boxes’ without the client bringing any content to awareness. Even then, behaviors and biases based on that old programming change; clients become more responsive, resilient, creative, open, free, grounded, expanded, and connected. When a person lets go of feeling all that they are not, they are free to experience the authentic nature of their true, essential self. It can be very liberating, it usually feels blissful, and it changes lives for the better. The wu wei. The wisdom of the nature we are. The wisdom within.

If you are a healthcare professional, or anyone who wants to learn to touch and relate to human consciousness, please consider joining me in studying Zero Balancing. ZB 1 and ZB 2 are the core classes in which the basic skills are learned: techniques, theory, structural/energetic anatomy, and conscious touch, feedback signals, etc. After the core classes, a whole curriculum of advanced classes explores how to work directly in energy fields (through bone), how to amplify your touch to the alchemical level, how to work with spirit, with personal transformation, with emotion. There are classes to hone your perception and expand your awareness. There are classes specifically for the skull and viscera. There is a deep well of knowledge and experience to share with a growing community of ZB practitioners. To learn more about the curriculum, visit www/zerobalancing.com
