His Holiness the Dalai Lama says, “ The goal of life is not to transcend the body, but to embody the transcendent.”
In other words, it may be less important to reach for the stars and look for spiritual connection outside of ourselves, and more effective to go within the sacred vessel of the body and learn to experience it there. Did you know that bodywork, like Zero Balancing, can release tension patterns and blockages in the body, allowing the ‘transcendent’ a place to reside?
Perhaps bodies are like antennae, and we all receive and transmit the unique frequency that is our true self, our soul self. I receive who I am; you receive who you are. But what happens when bodies hold all manner of residue from the past: past traumas and dramas, injuries, postures, mindsets, and beliefs? Every tension in the mind has a corresponding tension in the physical tissues, and those tensions require space and energy, diminishing the body’s capacity to host one’s magnificent, mysterious, magical, spiritual Divine Essence.
These tension patterns can become long-standing habits and unconscious, clouded filters through which we experience, perceive, and respond to our environment, leaving us ill-equipped to grow and evolve with authenticity, fulfillment, and delight. What might it be like to clean the filters and relieve the burdens of the past?
