The Alchemy of Now

Where are we? Why does it feel like the edifice of truth is crumbling to dust? Most of us grew up with the concepts of true and false, right and wrong, good and bad, heaven and hell. We inherited this dualistic worldview and accepted it as simple, straightforward, common sense. It offered a sense of order and clarity, the structure for moral value, and perhaps the promise of eternal salvation.

Lately, many of my patients are suffering from what feels like the breakdown of our world order. More people are feeling tense, hopeless, angry, frustrated, weary, powerless, and disregarded. The firm foundation of our value system seems to be eroding as the manipulative fingers of greed, fear, and control infiltrate the connective tissue of our personal and global bodies. The resulting dis-ease can sequester attention and resources, distracting us from the experience of our true and divine nature. Anxiety, depression, heart disease, cancer, and connective tissue diseases are on the rise

Many chronic degenerative diseases are initiated, amplified, or exacerbated by the stories we tell ourselves and the cascade of neurochemical events that ensue. Are we the victims of, the territory for, invasion, infection, and resource-hoarding, or are we embodied divinity learning and evolving through the trials and tribulations of living in a three-dimensional reality?

I ask because there’s an opportunity here, at the alchemy of now. Alchemy is the process of transformation that comes from releasing old forms, frames, and filters and allowing something new, of greater value and order, to emerge from the ashes. It is challenging to let go of what we know, what we believe, the familiar narratives that seem to create safety, security, and predictability for our lives. Even as we find ourselves on the precipice of a new world, we resist the leap forward as the firmament crumbles beneath our feet, and we jump only when forced by no other choice. Whether we move forward with a gentle step or a dramatic plunge, releasing ‘what we were' allows the Tao to carry us in its generative, creative arms into evolved, upgraded, elevated expressions of ourselves.

Our historical worldview is based on Newtonian, materialistic concepts. It’s pieces and particles that are here or there. It’s atoms and how they relate through time and space (though time and space themselves are not well-defined). And this is helpful when you want to fix your water heater or plant your garden. Yet, for the past century, the study of quantum physics and newer sciences has revealed that, although Newtonian physics is accurate for measuring some phenomena, the nature of reality is much more fluid than we previously believed possible. Now it is widely believed that time and space are relative and flexible, intention and attention affect the physical world around us, and there may be as many truths as there are souls in existence.

Whereas the sharp rise of scientism and empiricism in the early twentieth century marginalized ancient wisdom traditions as primitive and sometimes irrelevant, now, indigenous wisdom from around the globe is supported by scientific discovery. The mystery of reality is unfolding ahead of our ability to comprehend it. Science is not the truth; it is simply a method of measuring what has always been true.

The natural world is alive and can be in a reciprocal relationship with us if we bring our attention to it. That the body and mind are integral, and our thoughts and beliefs can influence our physical structure and vice versa. And to truly inhabit these possibilities, we need to take the step off the precipice of the known now and shape the imminent, unknown now as it emerges. As the rubble falls, a new world can form from the vibration, the emanation, the transmission of our hearts and imagination. Learning to live in the new story of fluid, quantum emergence is the evolutionary challenge we face. We are nourished and supported by the stories of the past, but going backward will not bring us forward.

Zero Balancing is a transformative touch therapy that addresses the quantum nature of life. The whole person is addressed; healing emerges from the innate nature of the body and is guided by the natural developmental process of the soul inhabiting that body. It’s real magic in real time, and the possibilities are seemingly endless.
